Every year, my best friend and I plan a city trip where we can enjoy some shopping and treat ourselves to some good food. We had heard a lot about Amsterdam and decided that it was our destination for this year.
Amsterdam really exceeded our expectations. The hotel is centrally situated so you can easily reach many of the attractions by foot. For shopping, the hotel staff recommended that we take stroll through the Nine Streets. This area is full of quirky boutiques and small second-hand shops. I purchased the perfect present for my mother-in-law at Suhka in the Haarlemmer street.
After walking by the Drie Graefjes earlier that morning, we went back and indulged in a High-tea. That night we chose to have a typical Dutch meal, but should that not appeal to you, you can find any type of cuisine in Amsterdam, from Italian to Chinese.
The Highland House, is a clean hotel with everything you really need. For us, it seemed to fit perfectly with the city - a friendly creative mix. It was a wonderful tiny oasis in the middle of a busy city full of cyclists and scooters. We felt right at home.
